Week 2: The Good and the Bad

Good:  The USC / UGA game
Everyone thought that the South Carolina Georgia game was going to be a snooze fest, including me.  Lee Corso even chanted "Boooorrriiiinnngggg" on ESPN Gameday when the match-up was discussed and predicted a score of 6-9.  Boy was he wrong.  The game was not only one of the best games of the week, but was an offensive shoot-out with a final score of UGA 41 USC 37.  It was a true nail-biter that came down to the final seconds of the game.

Bad: The USC / OSU game
Luckily I taped it so that every time I have trouble sleeping I can just pop that bad boy in and slip off into dreamland.  what a boring boring boring game to watch.  Seriously, it was almost as unexciting as the South Carolina / NC State game a week before.  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.  And what the hell is up with everyone licking Matt Barkley's butt all night talking about how he has truly come of age, blah blah blah.  Barkley completed just 14 of 31 for 195 yards and an interception.  I'm sorry that ain't that damn impressive peeps.  Especially against such a young OSU defense that was decimated by graduation and the NFL draft and let Navy put 27 points on the board.  The kid may be a great QB, but his efforts Saturday night weren't worth all the praise.  if you guys want to praise a freshman QB try giving some praise to Michigan's Tate Forcier who was 23 of 33 for 240 yards, two TDs and an interception against Notre Dame.

Good:  Rich Rodriguez's chances of keeping his job
As I said before he needs a winning season.  His offense was impressive and after a victory over ranked rivals Notre Dame, his team is certainly headed in the right direction.  Don't be surprised if they upset OSU this year.  Yeah I said it.

Bad:  Charlie Weiss' chances of keeping his job
Yeah you all knew I was going to go there.  But seriously Irish how long are you gonna pay this guys millions of dollars to show zero improvement and continually lose football games that matter.  Yeah I know that win over Nevada was impressive, but hell, it was Nevada.

Good:  ESPN commercials
The only commercial funnier than Sports Center's Brett Favre retirement commercial is the Sears Brett Favre decision making commercial.  I'm still laughing at those.

Bad:  Olive Garden commercials
Why do they have to play these during football games?  Why?  God in heaven why?  With their forced rehearsed dialog and canned laughter I'm convinced that they must be aiming their marketing strategy to the Jesse Palmer niche.
